A photograph showing the Third Brigade standing in front of a tent at Camp Hamilton in Lexington Kentucky, ca. 1898. One man is identified as J. Maguire, though which he is is not clear. Written on the back of the photograph is, "Y.M.C.A Tent of 3rd Brigade after a serve storm / J.H [illegible] Seey". See back of photograph to verify information. Like many southern military structures, Camp Hamilton was erected by early settlers for their protection. During the Spanish American War and its operation, it housed the Signal Corps, Second Division, the First Territorial, the Twelfth New York, Third Missouri, and Tenth Immunes. However, all vestige of the camp has now disappeared. The exact location Camp Hamilton is not positively known today, but reference is made to them in State histories, State papers, etc.
