Most of the workers are wearing a hat, and have a cup in their hand. Some of the men hold a pitcher, shovel, or a pick. On back is written, "Grading Nov. 1898 From Vaughan"; Originally part of a collection of 9 black and white photographs all mounted on frameboard given to the college by Harland Vaughan (Class of 1900) and Richard L. Wittig (Class of 1900);
