A photograph of Kristen Donato (Mayday), a Springfield College athlete accepting the Robbins/NECAC Division III Female Athlete of the Year award at the NECAC Annual Award Luncheon. In the photograph Kristen is holding her award with the award presenter, who probably is an official of NECAC, and smiling towards the camera. A part of the map of New England and the words "NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE" can be seen on the wall behind her. The luncheon was held at the Westin Hotel, Waltham, MA. Kristen Donato (later changed her last name to Mayday) is one of the best athletes in the history of Springfield College. She earned her BS degree in physical education in 1997 at Springfield College and her MS degree in 2000 at Loras College. She was the fifth athlete from Springfield College to be named NECAC Athlete of the Year. In her senior year, she collected All-America honors in four events (400-meter dash, 55-meter high hurdles, 1,600-meter relay and heptathlon). She also earned Springfield's Female Athletes of the Year award for three years straight and was named to the 1997 GTE Academic All-America Spring At-Large third team. The New England College Athletic Conference (NECAC) was a collegiate association that selected and honored New England Athletes of the Year since 1985. The conference, which dated back to 1907, was comprised of 86 institutions, represented all three divisions. There is a possibility that the conference does not exist anymore or changed its name. On the back of the photograph, it says "Illustration by Herb Gallagher Phototech" and has the address and phone number of the photography store. There is a possibility that the photograph was taken and printed by the store. The file number of the photograph is 7838/7.
