George Williams wax cylinder on NEDCC "IRENE" (2016)
Description:
The George Williams wax cylinder, the only known recording of George Williams, being digitized in September of 2016. The cylinder is on a tube that is part of a audio preservation technology known as "IRENE". IRENE uses a non-contact approach to Audio Preservation, creating ultra-high resolution images of the audio groove structures. The resulting image files are then processed through software that translates them into an audio file.
