This is a portrait photograph of Springfield College Biology Professor Dr. John Brainerd. Dr. John Brainerd was a professor and head of the Biology Department at Springfield College. He specialized in ecological botany and conservation education, and he was active in many fields of conservation. He earned his PhD at Harvard University and was with the U.S. Forest Service and the U.S. Wildlife Service before coming to SC. He retired in 1980.
