Description:
These are a series of seven cards containing academic information on Philip Loring Gillett. Philip Gillett is a graduate of Springfield College, at the time known as the International YMCA Training School. He graduated in 1901. The cards list some basic information on Gillett, grades and comments for specific classes taken from 1900 to 1901. The first card, also lists the year he was given a Master's of Humanics, which was on June 5, 1927. Philip Loring Gillett graduated from Colorado College in 1891 and went on to attend Yale Divinity School. After graduating from Springfield College, he was hired as the general secretary for the YMCA’s International Committee for Korea, where he is widely credited with introducing baseball and basketball. Gillett continued to serve in this capacity in Shanghai, China (1913-1915), Nanking, China (1915-1930), and Taiwan (1931-1932). On October 21, 1932, he retired. Gillett died November 26, 1938. It is not sure all of these go together or, if they do, what the order should be, but they were gathered together at some point so it was decided to keep them together and describe them as they appeared at the time they were digitized.;
