Letter from H.J. Talbot to Laurence L. Doggett (May 29, 1919)
Description:
A three-page letter from H.J. Talbot to Laurence L. Doggett dated May 29th, 1919. In this letter, Talbot tells Doggett that his son, Waverley H. Talbot, wishes to attend Springfield College in the fall. He also requests that Doggett send his full report of his late son, Robert V. Talbot, to him. Richard Victor Talbot attended Springfield College from September 14, 1914 to March 31,1916. He is regarded as the class of 1917, but did not graduate because he joined the Canadian troops as a Sergeant Major of the 5th Pioneer Overseas Battalion during World War I. In July 1917, he was reported missing later confirmed to be taken prisoner by the Germans. He died from his wounds while in captivity.
