This is a lantern slide with images of the inventor of basketball, James Naismith and the inventor of volleyball, William Morgan. The slide is part of a collection of slides which were used to create a promotional brochure for the college entitled "Being the Story of a Young Man who elects to go to Springfield College.". A numbered slide collection, with numbers ranging from 46 to 121, representing an incomplete set which was used by Springfield College as a recruitment tool during the 1930s. Included are views of campus buildings, faculty, students engaged in athletic and cultural activities, and provides a general idea of the steps a prospective student would experience when considering and choosing to attend Springfield College. Slides were taken from "A Cinema of Springfield College" a pamphlet for prospective students published by Springfield College and made available from George Draper, Alumni Secretary.
