A newspaper article published in the Springfield Daily News on November 5, 1985 titled "Coach Gives SC Women Lift". The article is written by Larry Silber. It talks about how Head Coach Herbert Zettl came to watch the Springfield College Women's Soccer Team beat Merrimack College in the semifinal round of the Northeast-8 championship. He had recently had a brain tumor removed and this was one of the first games he had been back for. Zettl was the first coach of women's soccer at Springfield College, starting during the inaugural 1980 season. He coached for 17 seasons (1980-84, and 1986-97) and he finished with a total win-loss-tie record of 156-106-21 for his career. Zettl's winning percentage was .590. These materials come from Coach Herbert Zettl's personal materials. In 2021, Coach Zettl graciously allowed the Archives to digitize and create facsimiles of materials to use in an exhibit. Facsimiles were created of each item and placed in a folder in the Soccer Team Records. Originals are still with Coach Zettl.
