Copies of scrapbook pages on early women's basketball, the creation of basketball, and Dr. James Naimsith. Some of the pages and articles have been cut off and are not complete. Articles seem to span the years of 1892 through 1836. The original scrapbook is not contained in the Springfield College Archives and it is not known whether there is more in the scrapbook or who created the scrapbook. There are articles on the creation of Basketball, is basketball dangerous, early women's games. There are some wonderful pictures within the newspapers articles of early women's teams and women plaing the game. There are are couple of letters also contained in the scrapbook, including a letter to Dr. Naismith from the Broklyn NY YMCA dated April 23, 1892 stating that they had just introduced basketball. The pages end with pages from an article written by Ellen Bernard Thompson titled "Athletics for Women: No. 4 - Basket-ball". Since these pages are copies it is not known if these are all the pages from this scrapbook or just a selected group. It is also not known whether these are in the original order of the scrapbook. Pages were kept in order as they came in and file names were given so that each individual page has its own number. Files were put together for ease of access and to create the feel of a scrapbook;
