A portrait of a young George Washington. He is standing looking to the left, a rifle behind his back and his right hand tucked into his shirt. Forrest engraved this after an original portrait by Charles Willson Peale, which a note below the picture informs us is in the possession of G.W.P. Custis. Below this is a fascimile of Washington's signature, and below that is the date of the original painting (1772).
