The document identifies Alberto Regina as the coach of the Argentina men's basketball team during the 1940 South American Championship. This tournament was held in Montevideo, Uruguay, from January 20-28. Uruguay won and Argentina placed second. A record of six teams competed, in spite of the World War that was underway. The YMCA brought basketball to Argentina in 1912. Argentina played its first international game in 1921 and held its first club championship in 1936.
