Letter from Robert McBurney and Richard Morse to Oliver Morse, April 13, 1891
Description:
A letter sent from Robert McBurney and Richard Morse of the Young Men's Christian Association of the City of New York, to Morse's brother Oliver Morse, Secretary of the YMCA Training School (now Springfield College) in Springfield, Mass. The letter was written in response to an official note sent to the Board of Trustees informing them of a special meeting to be held April 17. Morse and McBurney send their regrets for being unable to attend the meeting yet indicate they feel that the Athletic Grounds should be improved immediately, that they are in favor of erecting school buildings on the newly purchased property intended for the Athletic Grounds and lastly that they would like a Building Committee to be appointed. The letter is signed by Richard Morse and McBurney and there is a handwritten note in the lower left hand corner written by Morse which reads "R.R. MB signed first and in his usual crafty way far(?) ahead of me. RCM". For more information on Robert Ross McBurney, see https://springfield.as.atlas-sys.com/agents/people/763.
