This photograph shows a clear boot and clear shoe Peter Karpovich used to measure the angle of joints in feet in experiments. The boot and shoe were made by Field and Flint & Company of Brockton, Massachusetts (today known as Footjoy) in 1956. The boot and shoe are made out of clear heavy plastic. Karpovich for use in experiments funded by the United States Army that investigated physiological and kinesiological methods for testing footgear. His research centered on experiments investigating the physiological and kinesiological aspects of footwear and how they can be improved for comfort. This is a photograph of two separate physical items taken together. The photograph exists only as a digital file and not as a physical print. It does not have a physical location within the collection. The name was chosen to point to the boot, which was the first of the items in the physical collection; The original items that make up the photograph are named as digital items ms501-02-04-15-001 (Boot) & ms501-02-04-16-001 (Shoe), and physically/intellectually arranged in folder 15 and 16 in box four and series 2 in the collection;
