A photograph of the Cosmopolitan Club around 1935. The Cosmopolitan, club of the International YMCA College (now Springfield College), was organized in November, 1924. Meetings were conducted regularly. Topics of an international nature were discussed. The aim of the club was to bring together students of all nationalities for their mutual benefit and to promote friendly relations between students on campus and those from abroad. A notable feature of the club was its annual model League of Nations (UN precursors) assembly, to which all New England Colleges send delegates. “Not only do they profit by contacts with the American people and institutions, but also bring to our campus new ideas and new viewpoints, which help us to understand them, their country and their problems. During the past fifty years, over two hundred such students, mostly selected men from forty-three different countries, have come to Springfield College” (The Massasoit, 1936). In the photograph, sitting in the middle on the second raw, there can be seen Dr. Lawrence L. Doggett, president of the College. Next to him, on his left, sits Dr. Albert Z. Mann, Dean and registrar of the College. Students depicted on the photograph include: R. P. Sortikopolis, K. Lindgren; C. S. Lu, Anil Das, D. Neimark, M. Asfour, Chris Yanev, H. Kay, J. O. Curtis, C.
