International YMCA Training School town and country course pamphlet (1930)
Description:
A pamphlet about the Town and Country course of study offered at the International YMCA College, now Springfield College. The pamphlet is presumed to have been written around 1930 by the Town and Country department at the College. The course covered four years of study and led to the degree of Bachelor of Humanics (B.H.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.). The department also offered a Master of Humanics (M.H.) degree to those graduates who met the requirements of an additional year’s work in residence. The coursework included subjects such as biology, psychology, sociology, economics and their application. Field work was carried throughout the course with the cooperation of the YMCA’s. The College offered two scholarships for students with a college degree who planned to serve the town and country field. The Town and Country department of the International YMCA College was created in 1914 to train leaders in meeting the needs of town and country youth.
