A Springfield College news release titled, "Coach Dottie Zenaty at Olympic Festival" and dated July 15, 1987. Dottie Zenaty and Springfield College graduate Pam Hixon served as head field hockey coaches at the US Olympic Festival during summer. Also, Chris Manning, graduate of 1986, was one of the players at the festival. There is some coaching history about Coach Zenaty in the release. Dottie Zenaty (Dorothy J. Potter) graduated Springfield College in 1965. As a student, she was a member of the tennis, field hockey, softball, and basketball teams. Zenaty then served as the head field hockey coach for thirty-four seasons, during which she coached more matches than any other coach in college field hockey history. With a record of 377-233-43 (.610 winning percentage), she also won more matches than any coach in New England and ranks fifth on college field hockey’s all-time victory list. In 1988, Zenaty assisted with the selection of the U.S. Olympic Team. The following year, she served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Junior Under-21 Team that competed in the first World Cup Championship and coached the Junior National squad in the Pan-American Games. She has coached in five U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals and supervised four NCAA Division I Championships. Zenaty retired in 2004 and was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame that year.
