Letter response from James Naismith to Laurence L. Doggett about fraternities (April 10, 1917)
Description:
This is a letter from Dr. James Naismith, the creator of the game of Basketball, to Laurence L. Doggett, the president of Springfield College, about fraternities (April 10, 1917). Doggett was asking Naismith for advice on whether or not Springfield College should allow fraternities. Naismith acknowledges that fraternities can be a great asset to the college if overseen properly but due to the environment of Springfield College, it would be more beneficial if they were disbanded.
