This is a letter from Dr. McGuire, who is believed to be Springfield College Professor of English James B. McGuire, to Springfield College alumna Carol Deering (March 25, 1970). In the letter, McGuire offered some advice for Deering on getting into a graduate school. He also mentioned some recent incidents that happened on campus, centering on protests for equal rights. Carol Deering (Hinckley) earned a B.A. degree from Springfield College in 1968. She then got a M.A. in Librarianship & Information Management from the University of Denver. After a lifetime of library work, she became a full-time writer and publshed her first book "Havoc & Solace" in 2018.
