<mods:abstract>This document is titled, "A statement of concern regarding the crisis at Springfield College" and is dated May 15, 1969. The document starts with Joseph E. McEvoy explaining that the purpose of this document is to define the rationale and motivation that prompted the issuance of a petition which unequivocally supports President Locklin. The document is addressed to the Springfield College student council. There are 11 statements made by the creator, an unidentified committee, that express frustration about the uncivil and violent actions occurring on campus. This committee expresses full support for president Locklin and say that the society is imperfect and if individual students do not feel this institution supports them, they can meet with the president without causing trouble or leave the institution. The petition has a list of individuals who are part of the committee at the bottom as well as claim that 900 signatures endorse the petition at the college.</mods:abstract>
