<mods:abstract>A photograph of a group of international students in the backyard of Dr. Ted Kidess’ home, dated September, 1971. On the backside of the photograph the following people were named: Nora Arbuckle, D. Agyu, Lars Wahlstrom, K. Kim, Phil Conway, John Parker, Kurato. On the second paragraph the following people are mentioned: Mrs. Nyak, Theodora Anteli, Anna Chillapa, Mrs. Parker, Mrs. Kurato, Mario Gallegos, Lee, Lam, Elhage, Nyak Fu. Finally, there is a caption that reads “ Front – Afrundo Tami, Dr. K., Asei, Antivi, Darvish, Ukose. Dr. Ted Kidess was born in Jerusalem on December 25, 1910. Kidess identified earned his BS in pre-medicine from Queens College in Oxford, England (1933), his MA in physical education from Springfield College (1935), and his doctorate from Springfield College (1958). From 1935 to 1947, he served as director of health, physical education, recreation and athletics at the Jerusalem YMCA. During this time, he was also the country’s national soccer coach and national tennis coach. He even coached and was captain of the Middle East Soccer Team during the 1936 Olympics. Kidess returned in 1948 as a faculty member to Springfield College, where he dedicated himself to international education. He served the college in a variety of capacities, perhaps most notably as the founder and director of the Doggett International Center, until his retirement in 1978. Dr. Kidess passed away on May 25, 1999.</mods:abstract>
