<mods:abstract>An eight-page letter (the last two pages is the envelope) from Daniel Kruidenier to Frank N. Seerley dated May 28th, 1916. In this letter, Kruidenier tells Seerley about his experience as a soldier in the 141st, which included being a part of the recruiting campaign that required him to march long distances. He also writes his feelings over getting his dismissal from the college and hopes that being in the army will change him into a leader. Lastly, he informs Seerley about the people he owes money to and lists those who owe him money that he would like the latter to collect for him. Daniel Kruidenier came to Springfield College, at the time known as the International YMCA College, September 14, 1914. He joined the Canadian 171 Overseas Battalion during World War I. He was dropped from the college on May 11, 1916 for charges of larceny. Frank N. Seerley graduated from the International Young Men’s Christian Association College in 1890 and began working at the college as an instructor in the same year. He served as a member of the Springfield Board of Education from 1896 to 1912. In 1907, he served as an official lecturer for the American Society of Sanitary and Moral Prophylaxis. From 1917 to 1918, he gave lectures on sex hygiene in encampments for the War Work Council. After World War 1, he served as Dean of Springfield College from 1918 to 1934. Seerley was awarded the Tarbell Medallion in 1942.</mods:abstract>
