A photograph of Springfield College Field Hockey team coach, Dottie Zenaty (right), with Maggie Brown and Sherren Granese. The photograph was taken at the US Olympic Festival taking place in Colorado Springs. At the festival the teams were divided by regions. Maggie Brown and Coach Zenaty were part of the West team and Sherren Granese was part of the North team. While a student, Dottie Potter Zenaty was a member of the tennis, field hockey, softball, and basketball teams. Zenaty then served as the head field hockey coach for thirty-four seasons, during which she coached more matches than any other coach in college field hockey history. With a record of 377-233-43 (.610 winning percentage), she also won more matches than any coach in New England and ranks fifth on college field hockey’s all-time victory list. In 1988, Zenaty assisted with the selection of the U.S. Olympic Team. The following year, she served as an assistant coach for the U.S. Junior Under-21 Team that competed in the first World Cup Championship and coached the Junior National squad in the Pan-American Games. She has coached in five U.S. Olympic Sports Festivals and supervised four NCAA Division I Championships. Zenaty retired in 2004 and was inducted into the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Hall of Fame that year.
