Springfield College and the War (June 7 to 11, 1918)
Description:
This is a book produced by the International YMCA College, now Springfield College, titled "Springfield College and the War." It was published in 1918 as a souvenir of the 40th Conference of the Association of Employed Officers of Young Men's Christian Association of North America from June 7th to 11th. The book discusses Springfield College's role in World War I in training young men in army work courses. It also includes an in memoriam page, photographs of alums, song lyrics, and hymns. This item was original bound in a book titled “War-Work Courses in Great War, 1917-1918 Incomplete.” This volume was unbound and its contents foldered in the original order, which is chronological. The binding string was cut and the glue was removed with a razor blade. The edges are intact and the placement of stitches are visible. Each page or booklet was individually lifted out of the binding and placed in their own folder or a folder with like materials. Oversized materials were removed and placed in the oversized materials collection.
