  <mods:abstract>A program for the Ted Shawn and his ensemble of men dancers’ presentation at the Majestic Theater in March 27, 1938. The document describes the program for the event, including Music visualizations, John Brown an American epic, Olympiad a suite of sports dances, various ethnic dances, and Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 in G minor. Ted Shawn, the creator of this event, taught at Springfield College during the 1932-33 school year, and a number of Springfield College students went on tour with Shawn in the first all male modern dance troupe, including Wilbur McCormack. Ted Shawn (October 21, 1891 - January 9, 1972), originally Edwin Myers Shawn, was one of the first notable male pioneers of American modern dance. Along with creating Denishawn with former wife Ruth St. Denis, he also created the well-known, all-male company Ted Shawn and His Men Dancers. He was also the founder and creator of the Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts, and was knighted by the King of Denmark for his efforts on behalf of the Royal Danish Ballet.</mods:abstract>
