Springfield Training School Baseball Team 1910 Schedule
Description:
The document shows the schedule for the 1910 Springfield Training school (now known as Springfield College) season. The top of the document reads Springfield Training School Baseball Schedule Season 1910. Immediately under this are the names of some of the coaches and the team captain on the team for the 1910 season. The coach of the 1910 season was Austin Johnson, and the team captain was Joseph McCulloch. Underneath these names are the lists of games for the upcoming season. The team's first five games were all on the road this season followed by three straight games at home. Then the team has an away game at Amherst followed by a home game then three more away games before ending the season with a home and then away game. They also appear to have an alumni game set up for after the season ends, which may be the team's celebration for the season. Austin G. Johnson was the coach of the team during the 1910 season. Johnson coached a total of six seasons (1909-1914) and had an overall record of 21-50-0 and a .296 winning percentage. The team began training after Easter vacation, which put them at a disadvantage against many of their rivals. According to the 1914 yearbook, "a lack of unison and co-operation on the part of the men was distinctly felt."
