This photograph shows the trailer park that was located on the International YMCA College (now Springfield College) campus during the winter months. There are multiple trailers shown and the ground is covered with snow. The trailer parks were known as "Kampus Kolony." Kampus Kolony provided housing for about 100 people from 31 Springfield College student families. The Kolony had its own government, fire department, bottled gas distribution agency, and a community hall. Two trailer camps were built at the end of World War II for the Springfield College campus. The one shown here was located at the southern end of Springfield's Alumni Hall along the shores of Lake Massasoit. The other one was located on East Campus, but it was taken down around 1951. However, Kampus Kolony was also taken down in 1959 to make room for more buildings at Springfield College.The backside of the picture is dated 1930.
