This photograph shows Springfield College's Women's Swimming and Diving co-captains Ginny Ward (middle) and Sue Petersen (left) standing with Coach Joe McEvoy during the 1974-1975 season. During this season, the team had a record of 6 wins and 3 losses. Sue Peterson was an All-American in the 200 individual medley and 200 medley relay during her 1972 season, and Ginny Ward received honorable mention in the 400 free in 1973. Joe McEvoy coached the women's swimming team for 3 seasons, from 1972-1975, and ended his coaching career with a record of 14 wins and 4 losses (.778 winning percentage). After graduation Susan Petersen Lubow went on to become the first female head coach and first female athletic director at a United States military servace academy, attaining both posts at the Merchant Marine Academy.
