This is a portrait photograph of Springfield College alumnus John Storey. In the photograph, Storey is wearing a suit and tie and smiling at the camera. The photograph was cropped and enlarged from a group photograph that was taken when Storey visited Springfield. The original group photograph was sent by someone to President Ernest Best in 1939. When the photograph was taken is unknown. John W. Storey was born in Dublin, Ireland, and graduated from the International YMCA Training School (now known as Springfield College) in 1906. He was the Boys’ Work Director of the Association in Yangon (Rangoon), Burma (Myanmar). He returned to Springfield, where he married his wife, in 1911. He then worked at various YMCAs in the US, before moving to Canada. He served churches in Canada before leaving for the UK where he was the Rector at Staplegrove for about 24 years.
