This is a portrait photograph of George Day, a Springfield College (then known as International YMCA Training School) alumnus. In the photograph, Day is wearing a suit and tie, and he is looking to his right instead of the camera. On the frame of the photograph, it says "Coleman Westfield, Mass." According to the frame and back of the photograph, it was made by Coleman's Art Studio, possibly in 1891. George E. Day is a member of Class 1893 of Springfield College (then known as International YMCA Training School). He was born in North Dana. Mass., September 21, 1864. He was a student at Harvard University, 1908-09. After graduating from Springfield College, he worked as general secretary for Y.M.C.A. at Lynn, Mass., Syracuse, N.Y., Malden, Mass., and Somerville, Mass. He is a frequent contributor to the newspapers and periodicals. He published one novel, A Wilderness Cry; and a volume of poems, Wild Rose and Thistle. He is a member of the Congregational church. He was married to Nettie Mabel Fisher and had three children. He died on November 1, 1919. The back of the photograph has Coleman's Art Studio's logo, specialty, and address. The handwriting says "Geo. E. Day, Merrimac, Mass. 1891".
