A newspaper article published in the Springfield Daily News titled, "Daily News Mailbox: SC Black Students State Case" written by Robert F. McCarthy, the spokesman of the United Black Students of Springfield College. The article is dated in pen as March 9, 1970. This date, though, is most likely not accurate given that the article talks about the takeover of Massasoit Hall which took place from March 10 through the 12th and deals directly with the action the college took against the students who participated. In his statement, McCarthy lays out the reasons for the takeover and why they feel the students feel they are being treated unjustly by the College.
