A Springfield Union newspaper clipping dated June 8, 1955. The newspaper clipping has a photograph of the Springfield College 1954-1955 Baseball team. They are sitting in three rows, one sitting and two standing. There is a caption underneath that lists the players and a title that says "District one Baseball Champs Ready for Omaha." Those pictured are: seated, left to right, are coach Archie Allen, Bob MacLeod, Jack Sanford, cocap- tains Leroy Getchell and Arlan Barber; Pete Hofinga, Herb Bergquist and Joe Kobuskie. Second row, same order, Al Hubschman, Paul Bean, Paul Jordan, Roger Wickman, Sam Rowsell, Tom Conroy, Travis Brown, and Bill York. Third row, same order, Bernie Cropsey, Andy Pelczar, Ed Bilek, Dick Traynor, Dave Martens, Ed Bilik and Tom Murray. The 1954-1955 Springfield College Baseball team went 14 and 7 and were coached by head Coach Archie Allen. That you they won the NCAA baseball Tournament and went to the NCAA Collegiate World Series in Omaha. were they were beat by the Oklahoma State University 5 to 1 and Arizona 6 to 0.
