Laurentine Collins received her B.S. and M.A. at Sargent School of Physical Education and Teachers College, Columbia University. She held positions such as teacher, supervisor, playground director, head counselor, associate professor, and staff member at Detroit Public Schools and Wayne University. She was also affiliated with the A.A.H.P.E.R., the National Education Association, Michigan Education Association, Progressive Education Association, and Detroit Teachers Association. She contributed to the field of Physical Education in many ways including her writings in the "Journal of Health and Physical Education, Progressive Education and Design".</mods:abstract>
