"Good Advice from Men Who Know" pamphlet on a military training unit (August 1918)
Description:
A pamphlet produced by the International Young Men's Christian Association College, now Springfield College in August 1918. On the first page is a section titled "Good Advice from Men Who Know Will You take It?" and features quotes from the United States President Woodrow Wilson and Dr. Philander Claxton, U.S. Commissioner of Education. The rest of the pamphlet discusses the establishment of a Military Training Unit in September 1918 as to prepare students for military service and other plans for the coming school year. Also provides a note about the four main courses offered at the college. This item was original bound in a book titled “War-Work Courses in Great War, 1917-1918 Incomplete.” This volume was unbound and its contents foldered in the original order, which is chronological. The binding string was cut and the glue was removed with a razor blade. The edges are intact and the placement of stitches are visible. Each page or booklet was individually lifted out of the binding and placed in their own folder or a folder with like materials. Oversized materials were removed and placed in the oversized materials collection.; This item was attached to a page in the bound volume. In order to digitize the back page, this item was separated from the back page and some damage to the page and the document did occur.
