  <mods:abstract>A portrait photograph of Helen McKinstry. McKinstry was a graduate of the Boston School of Gymnastics, she received her bachelor's and master's from New York University. She founded and directed The Central School of Hygiene and Physical Education from 1919-1929. She then became the director of the school of physical education at Russell Sage College in 1930 and in 1942 was appointed president.</mods:abstract>
