The following is the 1980 Springfield College Baseball School Application. The top of the application explains how this is the 21st annual baseball school, and it shows the different weeks that school is in session. Underneath this are three pictures. The first picture shows a before and after photo of a young boy before and after attending the camp. In the first photo, the boy looks a lot younger and does not tuck his shirt in, while he looks a lot older and mature in the second photo and does tuck his shirt in. This is supposed to show that the camp turned young boys into young men while also improving their baseball skills. The second boy looks a lot more professional and ready for baseball so the goal is to encourage people to attend the camp because there are a lot of growth opportunities at the camp. The second picture is of Charles Roys, who is the director of the camp, and the third says Learn While Having Fun as the ground is sprayed with a hose as he slides into third base. The rest of the document explains some of the areas of instruction, including hitting and sliding, some of the evening programs, including swimming, and some of the features including good food and batting cages. The document also explains how the cost is 126 dollars for one week, which includes tuition, room, and meals. The camp was for young kids aged 9 to junior year of high school. The bottom is the actual application that students must fill out in order to attend the camp. Chuck Roys was Head coach of the Springfield College men's baseball team for 18 seasons from 1979-1996. He finished his career with an overall record of 323 wins, 295 losses, and 5 ties, a winning percentage of .522.
