<mods:abstract>This the 1971 the dissertation of Ruel M. Barker for his Ed. D. Degree from Brigham Young University. It is titled "Biographies of Historical Leaders in Health, Physical Education, and Recreation." As he says in his Abstract, "The purpose of this study was to present pictorially and biographically, historical data of thirty-four selected leaders in the field of health, physical education, and recreation." There are a number of early Springfield College faculty members and Alum, including James Naismith, James Huff McKenzie, and George Baird Affleck, along with many others.</mods:abstract>
