  <mods:abstract>This photograph shows Peter V. Karpovich and a group of people gathered together; with most of the women in the photo all wearing signs around their necks. The picture was found in the Peter V. Karpovich scrapbook and was titled "The Hellwean Gaug." It was taken during a Halloween party held on October 31, 1949. Karpovich is wearing a a plaid shirt and tie, and a hat with a type of face statue on top of it. Josephine Rathbone, his wife, is sitting on the end to the right. It was taken in 1949.
