<mods:abstract>Two newspaper articles about the games played by the Springfield College Baseball Team at the NCAA Baseball Championships held in Omaha Nebraska. They come from a single page in the Springfield College Sports Scrapbook with articles from Jan. 21, 1951 through Nov. 6, 1951. The first article is titled "Springfield College Nine Beaten by Oklahoma, 7-1: Maroons suffer first Defeat in NCAA Tourney at Omaha; Play Tennessee this Afternoon." In pencil it states that it was published in the Springfield Union Newspaper on June 15, 1951. The article describes the game and lists the stats of the game. The second article is titled "SC Nine Bows out of Omaha NCAA Tourney: 2-0 Defeat by Tennessee Second Loss by Local Tossers." It is dated as being published on June 16, 1951 and published in the Springfield Daily News. Again, it describes the game and lists the statistics of the game. The Springfield College 1951 Baseball Team was coached by Archie Allen and won 16 and lost 7. They represented the New England District One in the NCAA College World Series. In a two game elimination format, they won their opener against Texas A & M, 5-1, but then lost to Oklahoma University, 7-1, and Tennessee University, 2-0.</mods:abstract>
