Letter from Charles T. Snedeker (January 27, 1918)
Description:
A four-page letter from Charles (nicknamed Chas), T. Snedeker to a Springfield College professor, dated January 27th, 1918. In the first part of the letter, Snedeker writes about a voyage he had taken that had people like Dr. Gulick on board. He also describes France's landscape, comparing it to America and noting details like the people and houses present. Snedeker then continues the letter on February 6th, 1918. In that section, he explains that he became busy with work and could not mail the letter immediately. Snedeker also explains that the city he was staying in was bombed and that one struck two blocks away from his hotel. Lastly, he updates the professor on his plan of selecting and securing sites and equipment for athletic sports at the city's large recreation district.
