<mods:abstract>Notes from an interview with Springfield College faculty member and Director of the International center, Dr. Attalah "Ted" Kidess, dated December 8, 1961. The interview was conducted for a December 17, 1961 article, "Meet Ted Kidess: SC Vice-President Well Known Educator and Olympic Athlete," that appeared in the Springfield Sunday Republican. The article introduced him as the new Vice-President at the college and told of the many accomplishments in his life. The original article can be seen here: http://cdm16122.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/ref/collection/p15370coll2/id/10228 The conductor of the interview and the author of the article are not listed on the notes or in the article. The interview covers some of his family's history, religion, why and how he came to Springfield College, his doctoral dissertation on James Huff McCurdy, family, including wife Helen and daughter Tamie, and some interesting facts, including that he was decorated by Lord Baden Powell (founder of the Boy Scouts) on the occasion of receiving the King Scott Award (Eagle Scout in England) and once taught Haille Selassie, a king of Ethiopia, how to swim. Notes also include written quotes from Kidess. For biography of Attallah A. Kidess, see: https://springfield.as.atlas-sys.com/agents/people/579.</mods:abstract>
