An article titled "What the Triangle Means" written by Luther Gulick for the January 18, 1894 YMCA publication, Young Men's Era, explaining the significance of the inverted triangle as a symbol for the YMCA. In his article Gulick emphasizes that the three sides of the triangle represent the spirit, mind and body not as individual units but as a whole, representing the whole man.
