  <mods:abstract>The Springfield College student file folder for Dr. James Naismith created in 1889 when James Naismith applied to what was then the YMCA Training School, and contained his application to attend Springfield College for a specialized one year program to become a YMCA physical director, a letter to Luther Gulick speaking of his arrival to the school, and a card that listed his receipt of an honorary Masters of Physical Education given in 1910. The front of the folder has some information about Naismith. The application was received by the training school on May 27th, 1889. It lists his undergraduate school, McGill University, and also lists his "result" as "accepted.". To learn more about Dr. James Naismith, see: https://springfield.as.atlas-sys.com/agents/people/645.
