  <mods:abstract>A lantern slide of a memorial plaque that hangs in the vestibule of Springfield College's Marsh Memorial building, created for those Springfield College men who died in World War I. This image shows one of two plaques given by the Class of 1920. The Class of 1920 was the first class to graduate from Springfield College since the war and every member of that class was engaged in some branch of service during the war, according to the flyer created to publicize the gifts. The pictured image contains the names and College graduation year of those men who died which includes : Capt. Harry Whiteman (Class of 1913) who died of overwork in camp service with Canadian Army in Flanders, April 1916; Henry A. Moyer (Class of 1918) who was a Cadet at Great Lakes Training Station and died of disease October 1, 1918; Lieut. Gilbert Jerome (Class of 1914) a 1st Lieutenant Aviation Section, Signal Officers' Reserve Corps, USA attached to the French Army. Shot down in battle with 4 German aeroplanes at Blamont, France, July 11, 1918; Sgt. Charles Hartman (Class of 1914) with the US Army who died of disease in France November 1917; Capt. Hugh R. Doane (Class of 1912) US Army who was killed in action in the Argonne Forest September 29 1918; Harold G. Van Norden (Class of 1915) Medical Reserve Corps, Base Hospital No. 31, who died of disease in France April 4, 1918; 1st Lieut. Rudolph Peterson (Class of 1916) of Company M. 316th Infantry, 79th Division, killed in action on Hill No. 378 near Damvillers, north of Verdun; Lieut. Cluny J. Lightbody (Class of 1914) of the Canadian Army killed in action somewhere in France November 1, 1917; Lieut. Charles D. Hewson (Class of 1919) of the Canadian Army killed in action at Vimy Ridge April 9, 1917; Sgt. Robert Warren (Class of 1915) of the Canadian Army killed in action in the Somme Offensive September 15, 1916.; Royce D. Purinton (Class of 1906) who died as a result of overwork in camp service in France March 1919; 2nd Lt. W. A. Wilkinson (Class of 1911) of the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, killed in action at Ronssoy March 21 1918; Corp. Louis Marchand (Class of 1911) of the 119th Infantry killed in action at Verdun June 1916; Sgt. Mjr. Richard V. Talbor (Class of 1917) of the Canadian Army killed in action somewhere in France summer of 1917; Fred H. Kennard (Class of 1921) who died of disease at Norfolk, VA March 1918; Paul L. Harriman (Class of 1920) of Ambulance Corps 28, 4th Division who died of disease at Camp Charlotte, NC January 3 1918; , Roland Jones (Class of 1916) of the 4th Canadian Field Ambulance, killed in action at Vimy Ridge October 10 1917; Schuyler W. Line (Class of 1916) killed by accident while in camp service on Mexican border September 1916; Sergeant Paul T. Buck (Class of 1917) of the US Army who died in service May 24 1919 at Chalons-sur-Marne, France; and Elmer B. Clark (Class of 1914) a Survey Officer of the Educational Service, US Army Hospital, Rahway, NJ who was killed by accident May 17 1919.</mods:abstract>
