This is a photograph of Springfield College's first full-time president, Laurence L. Doggett, seated prior to commencement and looking over a program at Springfield College's 70th commencement. This photograph was taken in 1956, twenty years after Doggett retired as president of Springfield College, a position he held for just under forty years. The commencement address was given by Senator John F. Kennedy (who later became the 35th President of the United States) who was also presented with an honorary doctor of law degree from Springfield College. For more information on L.L.
