This is a booklet containing the laws associated with the Order of the Orange-Nassau, an award given to Springfield College president (then the YMCA Training School), Laurence L. Doggett, in 1914. The booklet is broken down into thirteen articles all of which contain rules and regulations regarding the award of the Orange-Nassau. The Order of the Orange-Nassau is a military and civil order of the Netherlands, created on April 4, 1892, by the Queen regent Emma of the Netherlands, acting on behalf of her under-age daughter Queen Wilhelmina. The Order is a chivalry order open to "everyone who have earned special merits for society". These are people who deserve appreciation and recognition from society for the special way in which they have carried out their activities. Doggett earned the civil division of the award in recognition of the training he had given to men from the Netherlands, specifically to Captain Herbert Van Blijenburg, who upon completion of his master's degree from Springfield College who, was the head of physical education in the Dutch National Normal School for Teachers.
