<mods:abstract>The Silver Buffalo award Certificate given to Laurence Locke Doggett from the Boy Scouts of America in 1936. The Silver Buffalo Award, created in 1925, recognizes distinguished service to youth and is awarded to those persons who give noteworthy and extraordinary service. The award is Scouting's highest commendation of the invaluable contributions that outstanding Americans make to youth. Doggett received the award because of his contribution as a pioneer for boys' work. Doggett was active in the scouting movement and served as president of Springfield College, which trained many men who became leaders in the Boy Scouts of America, for forty years.
