This is a photograph taken by Matthew F. Grimaldi of Springfield College's Terry Regina's legs. The photograph shows her from the thighs down. Her legs are bare and she is wearing high heels. Her right leg is shown prominently and has an electronic monitoring device strapped to her leg. The device has wires connecting it to the tracking devices shown in the foreground. The photograph was used in the May 6th, 1963 Newsweek article titled "Combat Pumps?" and comes from a group of experiments conducted by Dr. Peter Karpovich and others that had 25 girls walk and run in high-heeled shoes while checking leg and foot angles. The experiment was designed to check if heels cause knee flexing which might result in lower back disorders. For more information on Peter V.
