The students have been identified (from left to right) as Richard Griffin and John Dover. It is believed that this photograph was used in Springfield Union newspaper articles on the Black students' involvement in the Springfield College Massasoit Hall takeover. Handwritten on the back is "S.C. Massasoit.". Handwritten on the back is "SC Massasoit"; Technician who created metadata for this item decided that the last letter of the photographer's surname was a "R";
