  <mods:abstract>This is a scanned group photograph of Springfield College's Varsity "S" Club (1939-40). The front row of students are sitting and the two back row of students are standing. In the photograph are: 1st Row: Elwin Chase, Alfred Werner, Kenneth Landis, George Johnson, Victor Obeck, Carrol Newstrom, Rudy Matousek 2nd Row: Bruce Munro, William Knowles, Robert Mortenson, Roland Chapman, Milton Norling, William Rappaport, Elliot Babb, Harry Lee, Frank Higginbotham 3rd Row: Edward Bagian, Edward Shea, Benjamin Hargraves, Carl Sorenson, Lochlin Huth, Richard Redding, Percy Pitts, Robert Parsons. Traditions, Cage Ball Rush, Rope Pull, and Pep Rallies are but a few of the activities that the Varsity "S" Club has charge of. The Club's primary purpose is to uphold the prestige of the Springfield College varsity letter. The Club is a an organization open only to members of varsity teams. On the back of the photograph, "Scanned image", "Varsity Club" 1939-40", and names of the students in the photograph are written.</mods:abstract>
